The University of Fredericton (UFred) is thrilled to introduce the valedictorian for the 2025 Spring Convocation: Amy Carter.

Amy’s story is one of determination, growth and doing it all with purpose. A first-generation college and now university graduate, she began her academic journey with a diploma in Electromechanical Engineering Technology from Sheridan College in Ontario. Since then, she’s built a thriving career in the Industrial Automation industry, rising from field and service-based roles to leadership and business management over the last 20 years.
And that’s just part of the story.
“I also have two tween-aged children who keep me busy and are my inspiration—everything I do to push myself is for them and their future,” she said.
Finding the right fit for a busy life
When Amy decided to pursue her Executive MBA, she knew she needed a program that could complement her already full schedule. That’s what brought her to UFred.
“UFred was the most attractive option to pursue my EMBA because of the online options tailored towards working professionals,” she said. “As someone with a full-time day job and evening job as a parent, it was wonderful to have this capability.”
The next chapter starts now
This spring, Amy will take the virtual stage to deliver her valedictory address—a moment to reflect, celebrate, and inspire.
“We have just finished a marathon, but the work doesn't stop there,” she said. “We can now use the academic muscle we've built to make a positive impact on ourselves and the world.”
Her message to fellow grads? Keep going. Stay grateful. And use what you’ve learned to make a difference.
Amy delivered a Valedictory speech to her peers, faculty, and the broader UFred community at the convocation ceremony on May 10, 2025.
