UFred Executive MBA Alum nears completion of Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) program

When Ruben Rodriguez initially shared his story with the UFred community, he discussed how the driving factor in pursuing his MBA was to enhance his abilities and drive change in his industry: “I want to be a force of change that improves the healthcare system, and without those leadership skills, I recognized I wouldn’t be able to move forward.” When Ruben first shared his story, he had recently completed the Executive MBA program and had set a goal to earn a Doctor of Health Administration.

Since finishing his EMBA, Ruben has worked hard and is now nearing the completion of his Doctor of Health Administration at the University of Phoenix. His unwavering passion for improvement in the Canadian healthcare system led him to further education and to continue expanding his knowledge of the system and how best to drive change within it.

“I chose the Doctor of Health Administration program to further develop my leadership skills, my knowledge of the healthcare system and to increase/ develop my understanding of research process, quality improvement, and continuous education.”

When asked what he was most excited about during the final stretch of his program, Ruben said:

“I am really looking forward to adding to the body of knowledge in my area of research to improve the leadership skill of nursing leaders working in long-term care homes.”

In addition to his academic pursuits, Ruben has successfully progressed in his career since completing the Executive MBA program. When Ruben initially shared his story, he said, “I hope to move to a director role within the next 12 months.” Within a year of completing the program, Ruben was promoted to Director and has recently moved into the role of Vice President thanks in part to his continued education.
