Passionate Ncube’s MBA Journey: Balancing Growth, Flexibility, and Professional Success
Passionate Ncube’s decision to pursue an MBA wasn’t merely a career choice but a pursuit of personal and professional growth. Although he immigrated to Canada with previous education and work experience, many of the job opportunities that were of interest required an MBA. Obtaining his MBA had long been a goal of his, and it presented a perfect opportunity to fulfill his learning ambitions and expand his career prospects.
With a full-time job and a family to support, flexibility was essential when selecting an MBA program. Returning to school with two toddlers at home posed its share of challenges, even with the online format. Yet, Passionate found his peers and professors to be understanding and supportive, with many in similar situations throughout their classes and studies.
In addition to the supportive environment found at UFred, one of the major highlights for Passionate was the opportunity to build connections. Passionate cherished the chance to interact with accomplished individuals from across the country, including his fellow students and professors. The caliber of his peers and the depth of experience his professors brought to the classroom enriched his learning journey immensely.
“The highlight for me was meeting so many amazing people from across the country. I was impressed by the caliber of my fellow students; I learned so much from working with them. And I was extremely impressed by the qualifications of the professors; they had vast experience in their fields and provided high-quality lessons, helpful supporting material, and quick feedback on assignments.”
One of the most significant takeaways from the MBA program for Passionate was the skill of continuous improvement. Armed with this knowledge, he could critically assess every facet of his service delivery, pinpoint bottlenecks, propose enhancements, and measure progress. This ability has greatly enriched his role as a program coordinator.
Moving Forward: Goals and Advice to Future Students
Looking toward the future, Passionate’s primary goal was to progress with his current employer, moving into a senior leadership role. Since completing the program, Passionate has moved into the Manager of Academic Advising Services role. Passionate believes that his previous professional experience and MBA have provided him with this opportunity to progress.
“Advancing into a more senior role requires both experience as well as knowledge and education; my MBA will allow me to qualify for more positions and has given me the skills and tools to succeed.”
