At 17, Archit Desai made a decision that would shape the course of his life. He came to Canada by himself to pursue his education, driven by a clear motivation to build something meaningful for himself. It remains one of the things he is most proud of because of what it required of him. He had to adapt quickly, find his footing and begin creating his future from the ground up. During his undergraduate studies in Oshawa, Ontario, Archit became involved in student life and won university elections, gaining early experience in leadership and responsibility. Those experiences offered an early glimpse into who he was capable of becoming.

Stepping into something more
Archit moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick. Here, his career in banking began as a Financial Advisor at a major Canadian financial institution where he built a strong foundation working directly with clients. He was gaining momentum, but he recognized that growth would require something more.
His love for business and management led him to the MBA in Global Leadership at the University of Fredericton. He was not only looking to advance his career, but to strengthen how he approached leadership, decision-making and responsibility. “It gave me all the theoretical knowledge to put into the practical world.”
Archit has already transitioned from an individual contributor into a Branch Manager Trainee role. The move reflects more than career progression. It reflects a shift in how he thinks and leads.
Balancing a full life
Today, Archit’s life is full in the best way. There is a difference between being busy and being fulfilled that Archit seems to understand. His schedule is full, but it is intentional and manageable.
He balances a demanding role in banking with graduate studies, personal commitments and the routines that keep him grounded. Three times a week, he plays badminton. He even occasionally plays tennis with fellow UFred students.
UFred’s flexible, online delivery supports Archit’s full life. The experience allows him to continue progressing his education without stepping away from the other parts of his life that matter to him.
Success for Archit is rooted in everything he is holding together at once: maintaining strong grades, growing in his career, showing up fully in his role, continuing his education and making space for the parts of life that keep him grounded.
“Because of the flexibility that the University of Fredericton has, it's easier for me to juggle the things that I love.”
Connections that make it real
What stands out to Archit are the human connections within the online program. Those connections have shaped how he communicates, how he builds relationships and how he approaches new situations.
“The personal connections that I have made with students and professors have not only helped me develop my career, but at the same time, it has given me skills that are essential in my day-to-day life.”
With guidance from professors and peers, Archit has developed practical networking skills and built meaningful professional relationships. It becomes learning that reflects who he is now and where he wants to go next. He is always trying to strive for better.

Demonstrated growth
Even before graduating, Archit has noticed personal and professional changes in himself. Since starting his MBA, he approaches situations differently. He brings a broader perspective to his work, communicates more clearly and approaches leadership with greater intention.
“Now I feel like I have developed a certain type of skills when it comes to leadership, change management, operations management and communication.”
Through his courses, Archit has developed the confidence to engage more meaningfully with others. He has learned how to start conversations with people he does not know, understand their work and connect it to his own in a thoughtful way. The impact of his education is already visible.
Defining success for himself
A teenager arrives in Canada determined to build a future. Years later, that future is still being built through steady acts of effort, trust and growth. Through classrooms that become communities. Through ideas that become action.
After all, the most enduring forms of education do not only change how we work. They change how we move through the world. They shape how we listen, how we speak and how we carry ourselves. They expand what we believe is possible for ourselves.
For Archit, that shift is already underway. His education does not sit on a résumé. It lives in how he leads, how he learns and how he continues to push himself forward every single day.
