The University of Fredericton (UFred) is pleased to announce that we will be holding a virtual convocation for our Master of Business Administration, Associate Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, and Executive Master of Business Administration alumni. The convocation will take place on May 10, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
As a part of this celebration, UFred is now seeking applications for valedictorian. The deadline to submit applications will be March 7, 2025.
You must meet the following requirements:
You held a minimum GPA of 3.5
You have passing grades in all courses in the program
You have a clean student record with no reported incidents and are free from any formal student conduct actions
You’ve completed the Application/Nomination process
To begin the process, a nominator will complete the Valedictorian Nomination Form, which requires information on both the nominee and nominator (i.e., names, contact details, a program of study, and explanation of the nomination choice).
Each nominee will be required to submit two letters of reference, to be sent to alumni@ufred.ca. These references must respectively be from:
A UFred faculty/ academic member
A fellow graduate
Selected nominees will be contacted for interviews with the Selection Committee. The interview will comprise of a question-and-answer session to better understand the graduates experience within the program. Additionally, nominees will be required to deliver a brief speech (5 minutes maximum) to share remarks and themes they will use if selected as valedictorian.
Nominees are able to nominate themselves or another MBA/EMBA graduate.

Please note: Any person who wrote a letter of reference for a candidate will be considered ineligible to serve on the Selection Committee.

Quality and content of interview speech
On the day of a candidate’s interview, the candidate should ensure a digital copy of their prepared speech is provided to the Selection Committee.
Following the interviews, candidates will be notified of the Selection Committee’s decision within two weeks.
A member of the Selection Committee will be designated to serve as an advisor to the valedictorian to assist in workshopping and rounding out their speech.
A final draft of the speech must be made available to the advisor at least three days prior to convocation for review.
