So you've decided to apply to the University of Fredericton. Congrats! Our Admissions team supports you during one of the most exciting parts of your academic journey: officially becoming a UFred student.
Admissions Officers help guide students through the application process with care and attention to detail. Their role is to ensure that every application meets UFred’s academic standards, while making the process feel straightforward and fair.
We spoke with Kaitlyn Brayall, one of UFred’s Admissions Officers, about how she helps students move confidently from application to acceptance.
Admissions Officers support students once they’ve chosen a program and are ready to apply. This happens after you’ve explored your options and before your program begins.
During this stage, Admissions Officers focus on one thing: making sure your application is complete and accurate.
If accepted, you'll be smoothly transitioned to a Student Services Specialist, who will support you throughout your studies. This clear handoff helps students know exactly who to connect with and when.
UFred is a recognized Canadian institution with high academic standards, and the admissions process reflects that. At the same time, Admissions Officers understand that applying to university can feel unfamiliar, especially for students returning to school after many years.
Kaitlyn describes a big part of her role as proactive support. Admissions Officers monitor applications closely and reach out when something is missing, so students are never left guessing about next steps. Reminder emails and clear communication help keep the process moving forward without unnecessary stress.
Rather than acting as gatekeepers, Admissions Officers act as guides, helping students navigate requirements while respecting the experience and achievements they bring with them.
One of the most rewarding parts of the role is helping students who don’t follow a traditional academic path.
Kaitlyn often works with applicants to UFred’s Executive MBA who may not have prior post-secondary education but bring decades of high-level management experience. These students sometimes doubt whether they belong in a graduate program at all.
By carefully reviewing applications and recognizing professional experience, Admissions Officers help open pathways for qualified applicants to pursue higher education.
“It’s always rewarding to be able to help applicants pursue higher education, especially later in life.”
— Kaitlyn Brayall
Students choose UFred not only for flexible, career-focused programs, but also for an admissions experience that is respectful of their time and goals.
Applications are reviewed carefully and efficiently, with clear communication throughout. Students receive timely updates and know where they stand, without long periods of uncertainty.
That balance of rigour and responsiveness reflects UFred’s broader commitment to student success.
If you’re preparing to submit your application, a little preparation goes a long way.
Start your application early, keep an eye on your email for updates and respond promptly if documents are requested. Staying connected helps ensure everything moves smoothly.
Most importantly, remember that applying is not something you have to navigate alone. Admissions Officers are there to support you.
Kaitlyn’s absolute favourite part of the role as "being able to accept students into a program that they have been working toward." And you can do it too.
We make it simple to take the next step in your education. Our Program Advisors are happy to help you apply. Begin whenever works best for you.
